As we follow Jesus on the narrow road of life He leads us to various places to grow in faith, serve Him and to learn from the experiences. Some people live in the same place all their lives while others move around for new jobs, education, opportunities, or even better weather. Some feel forced to move because of circumstances beyond their control or to stay close to a loved one. One of the most stressful and most spiritually open times in someone’s life is when they move to a new place they are not familiar with. A W.E.L.L. Life centers around Worshiping, Encouraging. Learning and Loving. That kind of life is blessed by the Lord and can lead to great friendships and ministry opportunities. Many people go through life with a deep sense of regret over something they did or did not do. This Palm Sunday we remember those people with high expectations who praised Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem. Days later the mob would regretfully cry out for Jesus to be crucified. Peter swore he would not deny Jesus and but then regrettably swore three times that he didn't know Jesus. Peter was one of Jesus closest disciples but he went as far as saying "I never knew the man." Some people just get us so angry that we want to cause them to feel some of the pain and problems they have caused us. We might even stay awake at night planning what we are going to do to get our revenge. I Corinthians 13:5-6 lists five reasons why Christians are to choose to forgive instead of retaliate because love: "... does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth." It wasn’t that long ago that following Jesus was welcome in our culture but that is now changing at an alarming rate. Jesus half-brother Jude wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to instruct us how to live in these difficult last days. In Jude 1:23 he writes: “Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment…” which means God may call on us to help rescue others and live our lives as Jesus intended. Maybe you struggle with sadness and depression. Sometimes it is easy to identify the reason you are depressed sometimes we are depressed for no known reason. If we want to show Jesus love and encourage people it is important for us to get help if we are suffering and be ready to help those around who are depressed. Relief doesn’t always come immediately and sometimes God uses medication and Christian counseling to bring healing. In an emergency, when time is of the essence, compassionate people jump in to save those that they can, but at the same time call for help so that as many as possible can be rescued. In Matthew 9 Jesus sees the multitudes harassed and helpless, in need of compassion and grace. He recognizes the time is short as are the resources. He tells his followers to “Ask the Lord of the Harvest therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” This was Jesus version of asking His disciples to call 911 so that God would dispatch more workers to help rescue those who were perishing. Some awesome people have made life commitments that make them seem poor, some who seem rich are miserably in debt and none of us choose our true skin color. While Christian fathers are often taken for granted and sometimes don’t adequately fulfill their parenting duties we must encourage them and remember Christian parenting is a spiritual battle. God often uses flawed people to accomplish His plans. Often heroes are remembered for one act or season of sacrifice that helped or saved others while others are heroes for investing their lives to bring peace and provisions. Jesus is the perfect hero who can work through you despite your shortcomings. You may not think you have much to offer or you may think you have made too many mistakes to be hero but listen and be encouraged to put faith into action and become someones hero even if you are imperfect.

God our Heavenly Father has made His design for marriage between one man and one woman clear in the Scriptures He gave us through the Holy Spirit and it was even spoken directly about by Jesus our Savior. While our society seeks to redefine marriage and everyone appears to want to do whatever seems right in their own eyes, Christians ignoring God’s original design for marriage is not wise and will lead to great disappointment. Biblical singleness is even better than Biblical marriage for those God has given that gift and we are supposed to honor both of those relationships. Christians are not to be conformed to the world but transformed by renewing our minds by Word of the Lord so we will know and follow His perfect will for our lives. Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak and Slow to Become Angry? 03/31/2019 11:00 PM
Everybody seems to be so angry these days and occasionally it is OK to be angry. The Apostle Paul warned: “in your anger do not sin.” Jesus who never sinned was so angry he flipped over the tables of the money changers in the temple and chased them out with a whip. Jesus half-brother James taught, “…You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.” James 1:19-20. There’s an old saying that is wise and true, “Anger begins with madness and ends in regret.” While it’s true that some Christ-followers are too nice, we certainly don’t honor God and fulfill His purpose for our lives by being easily angered. In mathematics “n” is often used to represent any number – when one talks of something to the “nth degree” they are referring to an infinitely large degree. At the end of John’s Gospel we find Peter in a private conversation with Jesus. It is the third time Jesus has shown himself to the disciples. He doesn’t chastise Peter for His failure. He doesn’t punish him, but He asks Peter, “Do you love me” three times. There is an old saying, “He/she was So Heavenly Minded that he/she was No Earthly Good.” When you fully comprehend the realities of Heaven that are reserved for those people who come to Jesus, it motivates you to want to bring as many people as you can to Heaven with you and gives hope to anchor you during the storms of life. Discover why the Apostle Paul, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, warned us against following a list of rules to try to be right with God. Some people find it more appealing to try to follow a strict list of rules or the LAW to attempt to show they are deeply religious. Other people say that since Christ paid for the sins on the cross of those who would believe on Him we have LICENSE to do whatever they want. But better than LAW or LICENSE is to commit to following the Lord and trying to do what HE desires out of LOVE. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is an event that changed all history for all time. His death on the cross was the payment for our sins, but initially it left His 12 disciples trembling in fear for their own lives. But three days later the stone was blown away, and so was the world, beginning with the disciples. From fear and hiding, came courage and boldness, out of deep sorrow and crippling despair came an overpowering hope and joy. From 12 disciples, to millions of followers. After the fruit is picked at the end of summer there is work to do during the windy fall, cold winter, the wet spring and the hot summer until it’s harvest time again. Producing high quality fruit can require great strategy and lots of labor. The Bible teaches Christ-followers to plant seeds and bear fruit to make a difference in others lives. The best news is it’s not all up to us since the Holy Spirit produces spiritual fruit in our lives as we let Him work.
